We love trains. Simple as that.

Our Company

Founded in 1945, State Tool & Die began producing model railroad products in 1993 on the advice of Dean Freytag.  At that time, Dean noted a need in the market for round coil car hoods for Walthers Coil cars and encouraged us to develop what would become our first product.  These were soon followed by N & W Corrugated Hoods, noted for their unique appearance.

Following the purchase of the well-known Pollock Hot Metal Car dies, we converted their designs from die cast to plastic injection – and when Aaron Dupont brought in a master for our Universal Mill Car,  the expansion of our steel mill car products and related items began.

Today, we offer over 30 unique products to serve your modeling needs, and we’re always on the lookout for new ideas to share with you.  All of our high quality kits are crafted in HO scale – and all are proudly designed and manufactured in our own shop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

We hope you’ll take some time to explore our product offerings – and return often to check on new releases.  THANK YOU for visiting!
